Volunteer Opportunities During COVID-19 Pandemic

The King County Regional Donations Connector is now available online to link up individuals, businesses, non-profits, and others who have resources with those who need them during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Donations Connector will help make sure services, supplies, and funding reach health care providers, first responders, and social service entities working on the front lines.

United Way Volunteer Opportunities

Community Relief Fund

The City values our many volunteers who offer their time and their talents to help make Kenmore a better place to live, work, and visit. Volunteers are essential to the City’s ability to provide quality services to Kenmore residents and visitors.

Interested in Volunteering?

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the City of Kenmore! Annually, the City organizes over a dozen special events that present unique experiences for thousands of residents year-round. These events wouldn't become reality without the help of our dedicated volunteers. In addition to assisting with putting on City events, Kenmore volunteers also help with park and street cleanups, traffic safety education, emergency preparedness, and more.

To learn more about volunteer opportunities in Kenmore, please view the Volunteer Brochure.

To apply for a volunteer position or be notified of volunteer opportunities, follow these steps:

  1. All interested volunteer applicants should fill out the Volunteer Intake Form.
  2. Send your completed Volunteer Intake Form to Stephanie Brown, Volunteer & Events Supervisor at sbrown@kenmorewa.gov.
  3. Wait for our staff to get in touch with you to talk about specific opportunities.

Ongoing Opportunities

There are plenty of places in and around Kenmore that offer volunteer opportunities. See if you are interested in expanding your volunteer portfolio!

  • NEW: Hangar Ambassador Volunteers
The City is seeking part-time volunteers to serve as community ambassadors at the Hangar, Kenmore’s newest community building. Volunteers are expected to serve as on-site support to assist visitors with questions.
  • Special Events Volunteers
This category addresses the implementation of special events that are offered each year. These events include Fourth of July Fireworks Show, Kenmore Summer Concert Series, Movies @ the Square, Kenmore Play Day, #WhyILoveKenmore Summer Party, and the Tree Lighting Festival and Holiday Market.
  • Adoption Programs
The City actively involves civic-minded individuals and organizations in the care of our City parks and open space in order to foster the development of a strong community and keep our parks and open space healthy and clean. Two Adoption Programs are available: Adopt a Park, Adopt a Street, and a leadership position for these two programs- Adopt a Park/Street Ambassador.
  • Environmental Stewards
This category includes park stewardship, native plant stewardship, park clean-up events, and restoration projects
  • External Opportunities
The City promotes civic responsibility and volunteerism. If the City does not have a volunteer opportunity that meets your needs or availability, please consider connecting with other local agencies.
  • Student Volunteers
Many schools, churches, and clubs require or strongly encourage youth to complete volunteer hours. The City has volunteer opportunities that can often meet these volunteer requirements if adequate planning time is provided. If hours are needed quickly, we suggest students review the Kenmore Connections page to explore other options within the community. Get in touch with City staff so we can tailor an opportunity for your needs.
  • Scout Projects

Scout organizations strongly support volunteerism and strive to connect scouts to serving their local communities. Eagle Scouts have created park kiosks, beautified street corners, helped on environmental projects, and much more. Projects usually take a minimum of 3-4 months to plan and approximately 2 weeks to 1 month to fully complete. The City encourages scout groups to register with the City and schedule early to get involved in Kenmore volunteer events. Share your ideas with us and we will work with you and your team to make a project happen!
