On Thursday, March 22, the City of Kenmore hosted an Open House on the Walkways and Waterways Squire's Landing and Log Boom Park projects. Thirty-five citizens attended the meeting to learn about project design refinements and engaged with designers and planners to have their questions answered. See below to view the meeting materials:
On February 12, 2018, staff updated City Council on the design progress being made and next steps for this project.
This project is part of The Walkways & Waterways approved ballot measure, and the result of the City’s “Imagine Kenmore” public outreach initiative. Kenmore residents confirmed that safe routes for pedestrians and cyclists and connecting residents with the City’s public open space and waterfront are top priorities.
Log Boom Park is located at 17415 61st Avenue NE on Lake Washington in Kenmore. This 5.5-acre park provides access to over 1200 lineal feet of shoreline on Kenmore's Lake Washington waterfront. Existing site features include a public dock, the Kenmore History Path, playground, picnic tables, access to the Burke-Gilman Trail, daytime moorage, and restroom facility. The park was renamed Tracy Owen Station after the late King County Councilmember, Tracy Owen. During the summer, enjoy the water by renting kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.
This project will improve public access to Lake Washington including beach expansion, new trails and viewpoints, picnic areas, waterfront pavilion, environmental enhancements, and access for hand-powered watercraft. Project key goals are to improve public access to Lake Washington waterfront and to preserve and enhance ecological functions of existing wetlands and their buffers, as much as possible.
