Kenmore - Planning Commission

INTRODUCTION TO THE NEW
CITY OF KENMORE PLANNING COMMISSION

A Planning Commission has been chosen to serve as an advisory body providing guidance and recommendations to the City Council on policy matters relating to the amendment of the City’s comprehensive plan and/or related land use regulations.

In January, 2007, Kenmore City Council sought dedicated Kenmore citizens interested in serving on a newly-created Planning Commission.  Positions were open to all Kenmore residents.  Part of the process was to appoint members so that all geographic areas of the City would be represented.  Applicants with a variety of skills, interests and experience were encouraged to apply. 

The Council interviewed applicants in February, 2007, and then made formal appointments and initial term assignments at the March 5, 2007, study session.  Initial terms are for four 3-year terms and three 2-year terms, with three-year terms thereafter, appointments to be effective as of December 31, 2006. 

The Commission consists of seven voting members. All members were appointed by and will serve at the pleasure of a majority of the City Council, and without compensation.  The Commission will hold regular and special meetings as may be necessary to complete its responsibilities.  Regular meetings will be held on the first and third Wednesday of each month.

The Planning Commission will begin their review and hearing process for 2007 amendments to the Comprehensive Plan in April, 2007.
