Location:
State Route 522 – 73rd Ave NE to 83rd Ave NE
Background:
The purpose of the SR522 Phase II project is to improve safety, circulation and operation of automobile, transit, and non-motorized users of the roadway corridor. This project is a continuation of the SR522 Phase I project between 60th Ave NE and 73rd Ave NE. The proposed improvements include:
- Widen roadway for Business and Transit (BAT) lanes from 73rd Ave NE through 83rd Ave NE
- Sidewalks along the north side of roadway to improve pedestrian safety
- Install landscaping and street lighting along both margins of roadway
- Install traffic signal at 83rd Ave NE
- Install traffic signal at the entrance to Kenmore Square
- Installation of landscaped medians on SR522 between 73rd Ave NE and
83rd Ave NE
- Replacement of SR522 Swamp Creek bridge
- Conversion of overhead utilities to underground
